Major firefighting operation underway in Paros
The battle of firefighting forces against the flames in Paros has been in full swing since last night. The fire broke out in a forest area of the island, immediately mobilizing authorities to prevent the fire from spreading to residential areas.
Strong forces of the Fire Service are operating at the scene. Specifically, 66 firefighters are participating, supported by four forest commando teams from the 1st Special Forest Operations Unit (EMODE) that arrived from Attica, as well as 16 fire engines.
Residents and visitors to the island remain on alert, as relevant warning messages have been sent via 112. Authorities are asking citizens to strictly follow the instructions of officials for their safety.
The situation remains difficult due to weather conditions, however, firefighters are continuing their efforts to fully control the front. Civil Protection is closely monitoring the development of the incident, and reinforcements are expected if conditions require it.
