Strict message to the Commission regarding funding for Turkey
MEP Giorgos Avtias raised a critical issue with the European Commission, calling for an immediate review of financial aid to Turkey. In his question, he emphasized that this country continues to provoke and threaten Greece, as well as other European Union member states.
According to Mr. Avtias, it is inconceivable for Europe to continue providing funds to a country that violates the rules of good neighborliness. He asked the Commission to stop the funding, stressing that European money should not be given to states that adopt an aggressive stance toward members of the Union.
This intervention comes at a time when relations between the two countries remain tense. The MEP asked the Commission to take concrete measures to protect the interests of Greece and Europe, sending a clear message to Ankara.
