Two people arrested after the stabbing murder of a Dutch tourist in Egypt
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed the death of a 31-year-old Dutch tourist from Noord-Holland, who was stabbed in Hurghada, Egypt during a fight in a bar at night. One of his companions was also seriously injured and remains in the intensive care unit.
Reports indicate that the altercation began in a café at the marina, reportedly stemming from a dispute over women. Eyewitnesses stated that the victim was sitting on a terrace with several Egyptian women when he was challenged by an Egyptian man, leading to the fatal incident.
The victim and his colleague arrived in Hurghada just one day before the incident. Witnesses described chaotic scenes in the town square, with shouting and aggressive behavior escalating quickly before the police arrived.
Two people have been arrested, and authorities have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident. The victim's body has been transferred to the morgue of the Red Sea Hospital.
The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs is providing support to the victim's family. Hurghada, a popular tourist destination on the Red Sea, attracts many European tourists annually, with its hotels, resorts, bars, and cafes, which formed the backdrop for this tragedy.
