Arrest of Dutch individuals who blew up ATMs in Germany!
Dutch police arrested five Dutch citizens on charges of involvement in a series of ATM bombings in Germany. German authorities hold them responsible for carrying out at least nine bombings in western Germany between December 2021 and October 2024.
According to the public prosecutor's office in the state of Hessen, the ages of the suspects range from 22 to 33 years, and Germany has requested their extradition. German authorities have also issued arrest warrants for two other suspects who are already in custody in the Netherlands.
During the operation carried out in cooperation with the German side, the Dutch police searched buildings in Utrecht, Veenendaal, Maarssen, Vleuten, Reeuwijk, and Stavenisse, where they seized weapons, drugs, mobile phones, and potential explosives.
The police also found banknotes with dye stains, which are marks released by ATMs after a robbery to render the stolen money unusable.
Two suspects face charges of planning the bombings, while another is suspected of being involved in preparing the getaway car.
The Dutch broadcasting agency NOS reported that the suspects could be prosecuted for attempted murder due to an explosion that occurred in Frankfurt in June 2023. Germany has been experiencing a wave of ATM bombings carried out by Dutch criminals since 2015. This is attributed to the fact that the Netherlands has taken additional security measures to protect ATMs after a series of similar explosions within the country.
