Hong Kong Hosts Inaugural Embodied AI Industry Summit to Drive Integration of AI and Robotics
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee attended the inaugural "Hong Kong Embodied AI Industry Summit" and the "2026 Agibot Partner Conference" on May 12. The event brought together technology experts and corporate representatives from around the world to explore the latest development trends in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics, and to share future cooperation opportunities.
"Embodied AI" is currently one of the most watched fields in the technology sector. Simply put, it refers to giving AI systems a "body," such as a robot, enabling them to perceive, learn, and perform tasks in real-world environments. In his speech, John Lee emphasized that this technology will become a new engine for future economic growth and bring profound impacts to social life.
John Lee pointed out that Hong Kong possesses unique advantages in developing the embodied AI industry. Hong Kong has world-class universities and research institutions, along with an international business environment. The government is actively investing resources to promote the development of innovation and technology, and hopes to attract more outstanding talent and technology to Hong Kong through cooperation with leading companies such as "Agibot."
Furthermore, the Hong Kong government is committed to building a complete industrial ecosystem. This includes providing financial support, optimizing relevant laws and regulations, and strengthening cooperation with other cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Through these efforts, Hong Kong aims to become a global center for the research and application of embodied AI technology, helping companies transform research results into actual products and bring them to market.
The successful hosting of this summit demonstrates Hong Kong's determination to develop into an international innovation and technology hub. John Lee stated that the government will continue to support technological innovation and looks forward to working with more partners to jointly create a new era of artificial intelligence. This will not only enhance Hong Kong's international competitiveness but also contribute significantly to global technological progress.
