Special traffic arrangements in Southern District and Tai Po during Dragon Boat Festival
With the Dragon Boat Festival approaching, many citizens are preparing to head to various locations to watch the lively dragon boat races. To ensure smooth traffic during the festival, the Transport Department has announced that special traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented in the Southern District and Tai Po District on June 18 (the eve of the Dragon Boat Festival) and June 19 (the day of the Dragon Boat Festival).
Regarding the Southern District, Stanley and Aberdeen are popular viewing spots. Authorities will implement road closure measures in these areas and increase the service frequency of several bus routes. The Transport Department specifically reminds the public that due to limited parking spaces in the Stanley area, citizens heading there are advised to use public transport as much as possible to avoid traffic congestion.
At the same time, corresponding traffic adjustments will also be made in Tai Po District. Near the Tai Po Waterfront Park, some roads will be temporarily closed, and private cars will be prohibited from entering. To facilitate the public, the authorities will arrange shuttle buses and strengthen franchised bus services to and from Tai Po District to ensure spectators can reach the race venues smoothly.
The Transport Department reminds citizens that due to the large crowds during the festival, they should plan their routes and allow sufficient travel time before heading out. Citizens can obtain the latest traffic information and changes in public transport services at any time through the Transport Department's mobile application "HKeMobility".
Finally, the police will adjust the scope of road closures or implement crowd control measures at any time based on the actual traffic conditions on-site. The authorities call on the public to remain patient and follow the instructions of police officers on-site to enjoy a safe and pleasant Dragon Boat Festival holiday together.
