Significant increases in passport prices!
Starting from July 2025, passport and ID card issuance fees in Austria may see a significant increase.
According to ORF, the government plans to significantly raise prices, with the cost of a passport expected to reach €116.20 instead of the current €75.90, while the fee for an ID card will rise to €88.30 compared to €61.50 previously.
The official reason for this increase is that prices have not been adjusted for years to reflect inflation. However, it is still uncertain whether these adjustments will actually come into effect, as no official decision has been issued yet.
The final decision regarding these increases is expected in May, coinciding with the approval of the new budget.
Until then, the current prices will remain in effect, and no unusual congestion has been recorded at passport issuance offices so far.
