Hungarian-Chinese economic cooperation may become closer

Gong Tao, China's ambassador to Hungary, recently gave an interview in which he assessed the relations between the two countries. The diplomat emphasized that the cooperation between the Hungarian government and the Chinese leadership has been particularly productive in the recent period, and the dialogue between the leaders of the two countries is continuous.

The ambassador highlighted that Hungary is an important partner for China in Central Europe. The foundation of the economic relations between the two countries is represented by significant Chinese investments, several of which are related to the production of electric vehicles and the battery industry. These projects could determine the development of Hungarian industry in the long term.

During the interview, the name of Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó was also mentioned, regarding whom reports had previously appeared suggesting he might take a job at the Chinese car manufacturer BYD. However, the ambassador did not confirm these reports, emphasizing that diplomatic relations between the two countries take place at official government levels.

Regarding the future, the ambassador is optimistic and expects further joint developments between the two nations. For Hungary, strengthening Chinese relations could be one of the key elements of economic growth in the coming years, particularly in the energy and technology sectors.
