Hungarian innovation could revolutionize the production of electric motors
A significant technological innovation has been unveiled in the Hungarian automotive industry. Engineers at the Schaeffler E-Mobility plant in Szombathely have developed a proprietary process that can efficiently recover rare-earth magnets used in electric motors.
One of the greatest challenges in the production of electric cars is securing expensive and hard-to-source raw materials. Mining rare-earth metals is an environmentally taxing process, which is why experts have long been seeking ways to recycle these materials from motors that are no longer in use.
The new technology at the Szombathely plant allows for magnets to be reused after the manufacturing process or at the end of the motors' lifespans. This solution can not only reduce production costs but also significantly mitigate environmental impact, as less raw material will be needed in the future.
This innovation is an important step toward sustainable transportation. The development in Hungary could contribute to making the production of electric vehicles even more environmentally friendly, while the Schaeffler plant in Szombathely further strengthens its position in the international automotive market.
