Hungarian water management could be renewed with Chinese experts
Hungary's water management could take a new direction in the coming years. The Hungarian government and Chinese experts have begun collaborating within the framework of a joint program aimed at more efficient management of domestic water systems and preparing for future challenges.
The professional cooperation focuses on the Tisza River and its surrounding areas. The experts' goal is to utilize Chinese experience to find solutions that help manage periods of water scarcity and improve the ecological condition of the rivers.
Over the past decades, China has implemented significant developments in the field of water management, particularly in flood protection and the modernization of irrigation systems. Hungarian specialists are examining these technologies and methods to determine which can be successfully applied within Hungary's geographical and climatic conditions.
As part of the program, experts from both countries regularly share the latest research results and data with each other. This joint work not only concerns the Tisza river basin but could also serve the water security of the entire country in the long term, especially during the increasingly frequent droughts caused by climate change.
The project is expected to continue in the coming years, and based on the findings, the government may decide on specific developments. The goal is to establish a sustainable water management system that provides safe water supply and protection for the Hungarian population and agriculture in the long term.
