Farmers in a difficult situation: many have not received fertilizer subsidies
Serious problems have emerged regarding the distribution of agricultural subsidies. According to the latest news, a significant portion of farmers, approximately 40 percent, were unable to apply for state assistance related to fertilizer purchases.
The situation is particularly tense, as fertilizer is one of the most important and, at the same time, one of the most expensive expenses for agricultural producers. The lack of support makes the operation of many farms difficult, especially in the current economic environment where prices are constantly rising.
Inequalities are also visible in international comparisons. In Spain, for example, farmers received an amount equivalent to 710,000 forints per person for similar purposes, while many other European farmers—including a portion of those in Hungary—were excluded from the support system.
According to experts, the uncertainty in the distribution of subsidies and the complicated application process led to this situation. Farmers are now waiting for policymakers to simplify the system and find a solution to help the producers who were left out.
Overall, the future of the agricultural sector depends heavily on how quickly farmers can access the necessary resources. The decisions made in the coming months will determine whether it is possible to offset the increase in production costs.
