Horizont cycling route expands: network to gain five new sections in 2026
The Horizont cycling adventure tour has reached a significant milestone, offering even more opportunities for cycling enthusiasts in the future. The organizers have announced that five new sections will be added to the existing route network by 2026, allowing cyclists to ride through even longer and more diverse landscapes.
The goal of the Horizont project is to connect the region's most beautiful natural and cultural attractions, providing safe and well-developed paths for cyclists. When planning the new sections, special attention was paid to ensuring they not only increase the sporting value but also integrate tourism-significant settlements into the network.
Although the development is of international importance, it could also have a positive impact on Hungarian cycle tourism. The expansion will improve interoperability between Central European cycling networks, which is expected to attract more foreign tourists to the region and encourage further development of domestic cycling infrastructure.
The works are scheduled to be completed by 2026, when the new sections will be officially opened to the general public. The organizers are confident that the developments will contribute to the promotion of active tourism and encourage even more people to discover the surrounding landscapes by bicycle.
