Hungarian agriculture faces serious challenges: farming methods must change due to drought
Hungarian agriculture has reached a turning point, as the effects of climate change are already noticeably transforming domestic production conditions. According to experts, traditional methods can no longer be applied effectively everywhere due to persistent drought, lack of rainfall, and frequent heatwaves.
The weather extremes of recent years have caused serious difficulties for farmers, forcing the sector to seek new solutions. Experts emphasize that the introduction of innovation and technological developments will be essential in the future to maintain production security.
Among the proposed solutions, the development of artificial irrigation plays a prominent role, which could help offset the lack of rain. In addition, researchers also recommend the breeding of new plant varieties that are more resilient to drier conditions and higher temperatures.
Representatives of the agricultural profession believe that change is not only recommended but mandatory for the long-term survival of farms. Farmers must adapt to the new environmental reality to ensure food supply and preserve the competitiveness of the Hungarian agricultural sector in the future.
