BYD violated environmental regulations during the construction of its Szeged plant
Serious irregularities have occurred at the construction site of the Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer BYD's plant in Szeged. Authorities have determined that the company failed to comply with the regulations it committed to in its environmental permit at the start of the investment.
The official investigation revealed that the company's activities deviated from the requirements set out in the legislation on several points. Although the Szeged plant is one of the most important economic projects in the region, compliance with environmental regulations is mandatory for all investors.
The authorities have not yet announced what specific sanctions the company might face or what steps it must take to rectify the errors. Local residents and environmental organizations are monitoring the matter with heightened attention, as the environmental impacts of the factory will affect the city in the long term.
BYD representatives have not yet provided detailed information on how they plan to address the problems. Further inspections are expected at the site in the future to ensure compliance with the rules and the protection of the environment during subsequent construction work.
