The European Commission urges anti-corruption reforms in Hungary
The European Commission has recently published its latest report, in which it encourages several member states, including Hungary, to take more decisive steps to strengthen the rule of law and transparency.
According to the Brussels-based body, Hungary needs further reforms in the area of fighting corruption. The report highlights that a more effective judicial system and making the use of public funds more transparent are key to the functioning of democratic institutions.
The European Commission's recommendations include further strengthening the independence of the judiciary, as well as stricter oversight of public procurement procedures. The goal is for member states to be able to address potential abuses more effectively and ensure the integrity of public institutions.
The report concerns not only Hungary but also Spain, where authorities are facing similar challenges. The European Union's goal is to improve the administrative and legal environment of member states through uniform regulations and continuous dialogue.
Negotiations between the Hungarian government and the European Commission regarding the implementation of the necessary measures will continue in the future. The goal of the process is for Hungary to meet EU expectations and thereby ensure the smooth use of community funds.
