Hungary's southern neighbor has begun significant rearmament
Croatia has finalized a large-scale arms procurement agreement in recent days with the South Korean company Hanwha Aerospace. The value of the contract reaches 435.2 million euros, representing a significant investment in the development of the country's defense capabilities.
Under the agreement, Croatia is purchasing modern Chunmoo-type rocket launcher systems. These weapons are long-range and capable of firing various types of missiles, which significantly increases the firepower and strategic options of the Croatian military in the region.
The procurement is part of a broader modernization process that the Croatian armed forces are undergoing. The government's goal is to develop the military's equipment in accordance with NATO standards and to replace obsolete technology with the latest, state-of-the-art assets.
This decision is also an important signal to neighboring countries, as several states in the region have increased their defense spending in the recent period. According to experts, the arms race can be explained by changes in the security policy environment.
The arrival of these weapons could determine Croatia's military strength in the long term. Further developments are expected in the coming years, as the country is committed to the continuous increase of its defense budget.
