Political tension: Péter Magyar demands the resignation of the President
A new political conflict has emerged in Hungary between the head of government and the head of state. Prime Minister Péter Magyar has sharply criticized President Tamás Sulyok and is demanding his departure from office. According to the Prime Minister, the President previously failed to take appropriate action against government abuses.
Péter Magyar claims that during the Orbán government, Tamás Sulyok ignored the problems and irregularities that occurred within the power structures. The Prime Minister believes that the head of state did not properly fulfill the role of democratic oversight and therefore no longer enjoys public trust.
President Tamás Sulyok, however, has firmly rejected the accusations. According to a statement from the President's office, the President has acted in accordance with the law in all cases and has no intention of resigning from his post. The President emphasized that his office is independent of daily political disputes.
This situation is causing serious tension in Hungarian domestic politics. According to experts, the conflict could further deepen the divisions between government and state institutions. Further debates on the matter are expected in the coming weeks, as public attention remains focused on the power struggle between the two politicians.
