More than 2,600 billion forints in state funds have been placed into capital funds since 2013

According to the latest report by Transparency International Hungary, a significant amount of public money has flowed into various capital funds in recent years. Since 2013, a total of four state organizations, including the National Capital Holding (Nemzeti Tőkeholding Zrt.), have made commitments to a total of 98 different capital funds.

Based on the report's data, the invested amount reaches 2,645 billion forints. These capital funds are intended to serve state economic development goals; however, due to the magnitude of this enormous sum and the manner of its utilization, the organization is urging a more thorough investigation regarding the transparency of these funds.

In principle, the purpose of state capital funds is to provide venture capital to domestic businesses, thereby assisting economic growth and innovation. Transparency International, however, draws attention to the fact that ensuring publicity and accountability is essential when managing public funds.

In the future, experts expect the government to provide more detailed information on the exact criteria used to select the projects that received these funds. The topic is expected to remain a subject of public discourse in the coming period, as it is important for Hungarian taxpayers to know how national resources are being utilized.
