New energy storage project launches in Hungary: electricity could become cheaper
A significant development is beginning in the Hungarian energy sector: in a collaboration between SolServices and Huawei, a massive 150-megawatt energy storage system is being built. The participating parties are providing 50 million euros in market funding to realize the project.
The new facility will have a total capacity of 300 megawatt-hours. This technology will allow electricity generated from renewable sources, such as solar power, to be used even when the sun is not shining.
According to experts, thanks to this investment, electricity prices could drop by as much as 40 percent during the most critical periods. This is possible because the storage units help balance the load on the electrical grid, allowing the generated energy to be used more efficiently.
This development is an important step for Hungary toward achieving energy independence. Building modern storage systems is essential for the country to manage growing energy demands safely and more affordably in the future.
