Third-degree heat alert issued in Hungary
According to the forecast by the National Meteorological Service (HungaroMet), extreme heat is hitting Hungary. A third-degree heat alert has been issued in several counties, as the average daily temperature is expected to exceed 27 degrees Celsius.
Prolonged high temperatures place a significant strain on the human body. Experts advise the public to avoid direct sunlight during the midday hours, consume plenty of fluids, and pay extra attention to the elderly and children.
As part of the measures against the heat, several cities have introduced initiatives. In Debrecen, for example, the distribution of drinking water has begun at transport hubs and busy stations to help passengers and pedestrians refresh themselves.
According to meteorologists, the heat affects most of the country, and the heatwave may persist for the next few days. Authorities are asking citizens to follow the news and adhere to safety regulations during the heat alert.
