Extreme heat hits Hungary: temperatures around 40 degrees expected
On Monday, Hungary was one of the hottest countries in Europe. In most parts of the country, temperatures reached values between 36 and 40 degrees, which poses a serious strain on the human body.
According to data from the meteorological service, the heat affects the entire territory of the country. Due to the extremely high temperatures, experts are urging the public to exercise increased caution, especially during the midday hours when UV radiation is strongest.
Health authorities advise everyone to consume sufficient fluids, preferably water, and to avoid heavy physical labor during sunny hours. It is also important to wear light, breathable clothing and to avoid direct sunlight.
Persistent heat can affect not only people but also transportation and infrastructure. In rail transport, for example, speed restrictions may be introduced to protect the tracks, so passengers should check in advance for any potential delays.
The heatwave will continue in the coming days, and no significant cooling is expected for the time being. Authorities are asking the public to look out for one another, especially the elderly and children, who are the most vulnerable in the extreme heat.
