More than 2,600 billion forints of public money transferred to capital funds since 2013
According to a recent report by Transparency International Hungary, a total of 2,645 billion forints in state funds has been transferred to various capital funds since 2013. This massive amount reached investment funds through four state organizations, whose theoretical goal is to develop the Hungarian economy and support domestic companies.
Four main state organizations are involved in the process, the most important of which is NTH National Capital Holding Ltd. This organization coordinates the investments, and based on the data, financial commitments have been made to a total of 98 different capital funds over the past decade. These funds invest in private companies to help their growth and market success.
The report also highlights that the operation of capital funds is often not fully transparent to the public. Although public money is involved, it is often difficult to track exactly which companies receive the support and who the ultimate owner of the investments is. According to experts, this situation raises questions regarding the efficient and fair use of public funds.
These types of state investments have a significant impact on the structure of the Hungarian economy. In the future, more debates are expected regarding how these payments could be made more verifiable, so that Hungarian taxpayers can see exactly what is happening with their money.
