Police proceedings initiated against a passenger who attacked a conductor on the Budapest–Vienna train
A serious incident occurred on an international train traveling between Budapest and Vienna. For unknown reasons, a passenger attacked the conductor on duty, and the situation was further aggravated by the man issuing death threats against the railway employee.
Authorities took immediate action as soon as they were made aware of the incident. The police apprehended the attacker at the scene, and he was subsequently taken into custody. An investigation is currently underway to clarify the exact circumstances of the attack and the perpetrator's motives.
MÁV and railway authorities regularly emphasize in their statements that violence against their staff is not tolerated under any circumstances. Conductors are classified as persons performing public duties, which is why attacks committed against them carry severe legal consequences.
The case has once again drawn attention to the issue of safety for transport workers. The railway company is doing everything possible to ensure safe travel conditions for both passengers and staff on international routes as well.
