Smart city development still faces obstacles in Hungary
In Hungary, so-called smart regions and modern urban transport solutions are receiving increasing attention. Although technological development is promising, experts believe that several factors are currently hindering rapid progress in the country.
According to Kristóf Orbán, an expert in the field, the biggest problem is caused by the fragmentation of public administration. The lack of cooperation between different regions and municipalities makes it difficult to build the unified digital systems that would be essential for the operation of smart cities.
Furthermore, appropriate legal regulations are also lacking for effective development. The spread of urban air mobility and innovative technologies currently faces regulatory gaps that slow down processes and deter investors.
The goal of smart regions would be to make everyday life more livable and efficient through digital solutions. Experts believe that although the country is ready for a technological "takeoff," the transformation of the administrative and legal environment is needed in the near future for successful implementation.
