Medical School of Pécs finishes second at the home-hosted Medic Cup
The 53rd Medic Cup was held in Pécs between April 9 and 11. This event is the largest and most popular sports competition for medical students in Hungary, held in a different university city every year. This year, the University of Pécs Medical School was the host, allowing the Pécs students to compete in a home environment.
Teams from four domestic medical universities participated in the prestigious sporting event: students from Budapest, Szeged, Debrecen, and Pécs competed against each other. The Pécs team delivered an excellent performance over the three days, ultimately securing second place in the overall competition. The home crowd and fans supported the local athletes with great enthusiasm at every venue.
At the Medic Cup, students were able to prove their talent in several different sports. The program traditionally included handball, basketball, volleyball, football, and water polo. These matches are not only about physical preparation but also about the close relationships between universities and shared community experiences.
The event ultimately concluded successfully and in a great atmosphere in the capital of Baranya County. Although the Pécs team did not finish in first place this year, both the university leadership and the students are proud of the result achieved. For the students, the university semester continues after the competition, but many are already preparing for next year’s challenge.
