Local Residents Call for Urgent Widening of Busy CTH Road
Residents living along the Chennai Tirupathi High (CTH) Road are once again asking the government to widen the busy route. The road, which connects Padi to Thiruninravur, has become a major source of frustration for locals due to constant traffic jams and safety risks.
For years, the community has reported that the road is too narrow to handle the increasing number of vehicles. Every day, thousands of cars, buses, and heavy trucks travel along this stretch, leading to long delays. Residents say the current situation is no longer sustainable for those who live and work in the area.
Safety is another primary reason for the demand. Because the road is crowded and lacks proper space, accidents have become a common occurrence. Local groups have pointed out that although the government previously promised to expand the road, very little progress has been made so far.
In a new appeal, the residents have asked Chief Minister C. Vijay Joseph to take immediate action. They are calling on the Highways Department to prioritize the widening project. They believe that a larger road will not only reduce travel time but also save lives by making the environment safer for both drivers and pedestrians.
