News you need today: Karnataka creates 28,000 jobs; heavy rain forecast

The Karnataka government has approved a massive industrial investment aimed at creating thousands of jobs across the state. Meanwhile, residents in parts of Tamil Nadu are being warned of heavy rainfall, and police in Cyberabad have launched a major audit of the city's security camera network.

Karnataka has cleared 55 industrial projects worth ₹7,506 crore, which are expected to create more than 28,000 jobs. In an effort to boost development outside the state capital, 41 of these projects will be located in regions away from Bengaluru. This move is part of the government's "Beyond Bengaluru" initiative to distribute economic growth more evenly across the state.

In Tamil Nadu, heavy rain is expected in more than ten districts, particularly those near the Western Ghats, a major mountain range. Weather officials say the rain is caused by an upper air circulation and a trough, which is an elongated area of low atmospheric pressure that typically brings clouds and precipitation. Residents in the affected areas should prepare for wet conditions as the monsoon season continues.

Police in Cyberabad have started a re-verification process for over 1.37 lakh (137,000) CCTV cameras. These cameras were installed under the "Nenu Saitham" project, a community initiative where citizens and authorities collaborate on public safety. The audit will check if the cameras are functioning correctly and ensure they are geo-tagged, which helps police pinpoint their exact locations on a map during investigations.

In Telangana, the state government has taken disciplinary action against four health workers following the death of a pregnant woman in the Bhadradri Kothagudem district. A Medical Officer has been suspended after an inquiry into alleged negligence. Additionally, the Tamil Nadu government has reshuffled its administration by transferring 10 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers—senior officials who manage government departments—to new roles in health, tourism, and urban development.
