News You Need Today: NEET Re-exam Guidelines and Coal Scam Allegations

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) re-examination is set for Sunday, June 21, with strict new guidelines for thousands of students. Meanwhile, political tensions are rising over a coal mining scam, and authorities have taken action against financial fraud and unsafe public transport.

The NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, the national entrance test for medical school, will take place this Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. following the cancellation of previous tests due to paper leaks. In Visakhapatnam alone, over 8,000 candidates are expected at 18 centers. Candidates must follow a strict dress code and bring specific documents, including their admit card and valid identification. Officials have been directed to ensure high security to prevent further irregularities.

In Telangana, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused the state government of hiding facts regarding an alleged scam involving Singareni Collieries Company Limited, a major government-owned coal mining entity. Political leaders claim the current administration is obstructing a fact-finding mission into financial irregularities within the company.

In Bengaluru, police have booked a private bank manager and several staff members for allegedly orchestrating a ₹12 lakh fraud. A local businessman filed a complaint claiming the bank used forged documents to approve a loan in his name without his knowledge or consent.

Public safety officials have also been active this weekend. Transport officials in Telangana seized three private sleeper buses registered in Arunachal Pradesh after finding they were illegally modified and unsafe for passengers. Additionally, Chennai Metrowater disconnected the water supply to 20 properties in Taramani for using electric motors to illegally extract water from the main lines.
