Ministry of Health Accelerates the Use of Robotic Surgery Technology in Indonesia
The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia plans to accelerate the adoption of robotic surgery technology in various hospitals across the country. This step is being taken because Indonesia is considered to still be lagging behind in the utilization of such modern medical technology when compared to neighboring countries, such as Vietnam.
To catch up, the government has prepared the procurement of 40 robotic surgery units, which will be distributed to a number of referral hospitals. This technology is expected to improve the accuracy of surgical procedures and accelerate the patient recovery process compared to conventional surgical methods.
In addition to the procurement of equipment, the government is also developing a financing scheme through the BPJS Kesehatan program. This aims to ensure that people from various economic backgrounds can access these advanced health services without having to incur very high costs.
The use of robots in the medical world is part of the health technology transformation currently being promoted by the government. With these facilities, it is hoped that the quality of hospital services in Indonesia can compete at the regional level and provide better medical outcomes for the public.
