Global technology company Microsoft has just announced a major investment plan in Indonesia. The company is committed to investing US$1.7 billion, equivalent to approximately IDR 26 trillion, to support the advancement of digital infrastructure and artificial intelligence in the country.
Minister of Communication and Digital, Meutya Hafid, welcomed this investment plan. In a meeting with Microsoft representatives, she emphasized that the investment must provide a tangible positive impact for the Indonesian people in the long term.
The main focus of this investment is the development of data centers and the enhancement of human resource skills in the technology sector. The government hopes this step will accelerate national digital transformation and help local workers become better prepared to compete in an increasingly sophisticated global market.
Furthermore, this collaboration is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the digital economy hubs in the Southeast Asian region. With better infrastructure support, local companies are expected to grow faster by leveraging the latest technology.
Overall, this commitment from Microsoft serves as a positive signal for the investment climate in Indonesia. The government will continue to monitor the implementation of this project to ensure that its benefits can be felt evenly across all industrial sectors in Indonesia.
