South Sumatra Records Worst Air Quality in Indonesia Today
Air quality in several regions of Indonesia has once again become a point of public concern on Friday morning (August 23). Based on the latest data from the Indonesian Economic and Business Data Center (Databoks), South Sumatra is recorded as the region with the highest level of air pollution in the country.
The air quality index in South Sumatra reached 2,460 this morning. Although this figure shows a decrease of 2.02% compared to the previous reading, this pollution level still places the province in the top position as the region with the worst air quality in Indonesia.
This high pollution index figure serves as an important warning for local residents. Exposure to extreme air pollution can have a direct impact on respiratory health, especially for vulnerable groups such as children, the elderly, and people with a history of lung disease.
Authorities and the public are expected to remain vigilant regarding the surrounding environmental conditions. The use of masks when engaging in outdoor activities is recommended to reduce health risks resulting from breathing unhealthy air.
These fluctuating air quality conditions demand greater attention from various relevant parties. Regular monitoring efforts continue to be carried out so that the public can obtain accurate information regarding the environmental health of their respective regions.
