One Year of Sekolah Rakyat: Why Does This Program Need Improvement?
The Sekolah Rakyat (People's School) program has been running for nearly a year in Indonesia. This program was established with the primary goal of helping out-of-school children return to education. Although its objective is very noble, various suggestions have now emerged from the community for the program to be reorganized immediately.
Some parties believe that Sekolah Rakyat needs to be improved to reach more children in various regions. They worry that if not managed well, this program will only become "cosmetic" or a mere formality without providing real results for national education. Therefore, the effectiveness of this program has become a major concern for education observers.
One of the major challenges faced is how to encourage children who have long left school to want to learn again. Many of these children come from underprivileged families and must work to help their parents' economy. Sekolah Rakyat is expected to have a more flexible curriculum to suit the living conditions of these students.
In addition to curriculum issues, supporting facilities are also important to consider. The government is encouraged to provide greater support, both in the form of funding and quality teaching staff. With adequate facilities, the teaching and learning process is expected to run more optimally and be more engaging for students.
In conclusion, Sekolah Rakyat has great potential to reduce the dropout rate in Indonesia. However, evaluation and improvement are highly necessary so that this program truly provides a positive long-term impact. The future of Indonesian children's education depends on the government's seriousness in managing programs like this.
