Ministry of Health Changes BPJS Referral System, Limits Inpatient Capacity

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia has just announced significant changes to the referral system for BPJS Kesehatan participants. This new policy aims to improve the quality of healthcare services in all hospitals across Indonesia to be more equitable and efficient for the public.

One of the main points in these latest regulations is the limitation on the number of patients in a standard class inpatient room. Now, each inpatient room may accommodate a maximum of only four patients. This step was taken to ensure patient comfort as well as to maintain hygiene and privacy standards during their treatment period at the hospital.

In addition to the regulation of ward capacity, the referral system has also undergone adjustments so that the service flow becomes faster. Patients are expected to receive medical treatment with shorter waiting times, especially for those requiring emergency measures or intensive care at referral hospitals.

The government emphasizes that these changes are part of the national health system transformation effort. With these new standards, it is hoped that hospitals can provide more humane and professional services for all participants of the National Health Insurance (JKN) program.

Currently, hospitals in various regions have begun adjusting their facilities to comply with these regulations. The public is advised to continue monitoring official information from BPJS Kesehatan or local hospitals regarding the latest referral procedures to avoid any issues when needing healthcare services.
