Government Enhances Healthcare Services for 5.4 Million Residents Affected by Forest and Land Fires
Forest and land fires currently occurring in various regions of Indonesia have had a serious impact on the community. Recent data shows that approximately 5.4 million residents across seven provinces have been directly affected by these events.
This condition has caused air quality in those areas to decline drastically due to haze. This has triggered concerns regarding an increase in respiratory disease cases, such as acute respiratory infections (ARI), among the local population.
Responding to the situation, the Indonesian government is now taking swift action to strengthen healthcare services. Healthcare facilities in the seven affected provinces have been put on alert to provide the medical assistance needed by residents experiencing health issues due to the smoke from the fires.
In addition to providing treatment, the government also urges the public to always wear masks when engaging in outdoor activities. This step is being taken as a preventive measure so that the health impact on residents does not spread further.
The government continues to monitor the development of the situation on the ground and is working to extinguish the remaining hotspots. Cooperation between relevant agencies and the community is highly expected so that environmental conditions can return to normal soon and the health of residents remains protected.
