Microsoft Invests IDR 27 Trillion in Indonesia, Government Requests Technology Transfer
The Indonesian government welcomes the major investment plan from global technology company, Microsoft. The United States-based company has committed to investing USD 1.7 billion, or approximately IDR 27 trillion, for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure in Indonesia.
This move is part of the government's efforts to accelerate the national digital transformation. The investment is expected to strengthen Indonesia's position as one of the key digital economic hubs in the Southeast Asian region.
In response to the plan, the Indonesian government has set an important condition for Microsoft. The government is encouraging the investment to not only focus on physical construction but also include technology transfer to the local workforce so that the capabilities of Indonesia's human resources can be further enhanced.
In addition to technology transfer, the government also emphasized the importance of developing digital talent and strengthening domestic industries. Through this collaboration, it is hoped that local developers and industry players will find it easier to access advanced technology to create new innovations.
The presence of Microsoft is expected to have a positive impact on the digital ecosystem in Indonesia. The government will continue to monitor this investment process to ensure that its benefits can be widely felt by the public and support long-term economic growth.
