Indonesia's Challenges in Realizing a Clean Energy Transition
Indonesia is currently facing major challenges in its efforts to transition from fossil fuels to more environmentally friendly energy. This step is being taken as part of a global commitment to reduce carbon emissions and address climate change, the impacts of which are beginning to be felt in various regions.
One of the main obstacles in this process is the readiness of current technology. The government needs to make significant investments in the development of renewable energy infrastructure, such as solar, wind, and geothermal power. Furthermore, the national industry's dependence on coal remains very high, meaning that changing energy consumption patterns requires time and careful planning.
Beyond technological issues, policy governance is a determining factor for the success of the energy transition. The government must ensure that the policies created can attract investors while keeping energy prices affordable for the wider community. Coordination between government agencies is key to ensuring that implemented regulations are aligned and do not hinder economic growth.
On the other hand, the energy transition also opens up opportunities for the creation of new jobs in the green technology sector. Developing skilled human resources in the field of renewable energy is crucial so that Indonesia does not merely become a market for foreign technology, but is also capable of producing and managing its own technology.
Overall, the energy transition is a long journey that requires support from various parties, ranging from the government and the private sector to the public. Despite facing many trials, this step is vital for creating a more sustainable future for the next generation in Indonesia.
