Major Challenges in Digital Library Development in Indonesia
Digital libraries have now become an essential need for modern society to access information more easily. However, efforts to develop digital libraries in Indonesia still face various quite serious obstacles.
One of the biggest hurdles currently faced is the availability of technological infrastructure, which is not yet evenly distributed across all regions of Indonesia. The gap in internet access between major cities and remote areas means that digital library services cannot be enjoyed by all levels of society equally.
In addition to infrastructure issues, unstable internet connection quality in several regions also serves as a technical constraint. This makes it difficult for users to access digital book collections or important documents stored within online library systems.
To overcome this problem, the government and relevant parties need to work together to expand the reach of internet networks. Improving the quality of technology in remote areas is expected to support equitable access to information for all students and the people of Indonesia.
Developing inclusive digital libraries is crucial for improving national literacy. With adequate infrastructure, it is hoped that people in all corners of the country can utilize technology to broaden their horizons and knowledge.
