Microsoft Invests 1.7 Billion USD to Build AI Infrastructure in Indonesia
Microsoft has officially announced a major investment plan in Indonesia worth 1.7 billion USD, or approximately 27.6 trillion rupiah. This investment will be focused on the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud computing infrastructure over the next four years. This move marks one of the largest investments in the technology company's history in Indonesia.
The primary focus of this investment is the construction of sophisticated data centers. In addition, Microsoft is committed to providing AI skills training to 840,000 people in Indonesia. This program is aimed at students, software developers, and the general public to better prepare them for the digital economy era.
The Indonesian government has welcomed this investment plan. President Joko Widodo has met directly with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella to discuss the strategic partnership. The government hopes that Microsoft's presence will accelerate national digital transformation and support the Golden Indonesia 2045 target through the enhancement of human resource capacity in the technology sector.
Beyond infrastructure development, Microsoft has also pledged to support the local developer ecosystem. They will provide access to the latest technology and support for startups in Indonesia. This is expected to create many new job opportunities and increase the competitiveness of the domestic technology industry in the global market.
This investment marks an important step for Indonesia's position on the global technology map. With the support of better infrastructure, Indonesia is expected to become a digital innovation hub in the Southeast Asian region. Moving forward, this collaboration between the government and the private sector is expected to provide tangible benefits for national economic growth.
