Government Increases Forest and Land Fire Handling Operations

The Indonesian government is currently intensifying efforts to handle forest and land fires occurring in a number of regions. This step was taken as a rapid response to control hotspots so they do not spread and cause worse environmental impacts for the community.

In its implementation, the government is carrying out a combination of aerial and ground operations. Aerial operations are conducted to reach areas that are difficult for teams on the ground to access, while ground operations are focused on direct extinguishing and the creation of firebreaks to cut off the fire's path.

In addition to extinguishing, joint teams continue to monitor weather conditions and hotspots in various vulnerable areas. Inter-agency coordination continues to be strengthened to ensure the availability of resources, such as firefighting equipment and personnel ready to be deployed at any time.

These efforts are expected to significantly reduce the number of forest and land fire incidents. The government also urges the public to remain vigilant and not to engage in activities that have the potential to trigger fires, especially during the dry season which is susceptible to fire risks.
