Gayo Aceh Residents Build Bridge Independently to End Isolation
Residents in the Gayo region of Aceh are working hard to rebuild the Enang-Enang Bridge independently. This bridge is a vital access point for the community's daily life. Since the bridge was damaged by a natural disaster, residents have felt isolated and have struggled to carry out their economic activities.
Sahrial Abadi, a local resident, has become the initiator or main driver of this repair project. He felt that the bridge's repair could no longer be delayed due to its significant impact on the residents' mobility. According to Sahrial, the severed road access had paralyzed community life in his area for some time.
The construction of this bridge is being carried out through community self-help, meaning residents are pooling funds and labor together. They decided to act on their own because they felt there was no other choice to restore the situation quickly. The spirit of mutual cooperation is the main key in the construction process so that their village can be reconnected with the surrounding areas.
With the completion of this bridge construction, residents hope that the transportation system and economic activities in Gayo can return to normal. The struggle of the Enang-Enang residents serves as tangible proof of how strong community cooperation is in facing difficulties after a disaster. Now, hope for a better life is beginning to re-emerge within the community.
