Air Quality in Central Kalimantan Becomes the Worst in Indonesia
Air quality in the Central Kalimantan region was reported to have reached a dangerous level on Saturday morning, September 5, 2026. Based on the latest data, the Air Pollution Standard Index (ISPU) in the region was recorded at 602 at 08:00 WIB.
This figure places Central Kalimantan as the region with the worst air quality in all of Indonesia at that time. This extremely high level of pollution is certainly a serious concern for the local community as it can have a direct impact on respiratory health.
In addition to Central Kalimantan, several other regions on the islands of Kalimantan and Sumatra have also experienced a significant decline in air quality. West Kalimantan and Riau were recorded as following in the next positions as regions with high levels of air pollution.
These dangerous air conditions are usually caused by haze resulting from forest and land fires occurring in several spots. The local government and relevant agencies are expected to immediately take mitigation steps to reduce the impact of pollution on residents.
The public is urged to reduce outdoor activities and always wear masks when they have to travel. These preventive measures are very important to take in order to protect oneself from exposure to poor air pollution until environmental conditions improve.
