2026 ASEAN Peace Education Conference: Building a Shared Future
In September 2026, the Southeast Asian region will host the ASEAN Peace Education High-Level Conference. This significant event will take place in the Philippines with the main theme of "Peace Education for Shared Futures and Enduring Cooperation."
This conference aims to strengthen the role of education in creating stability within the ASEAN region. Educational leaders, academics, and policymakers from various member countries will gather to discuss how peace values can be integrated into school curricula across Southeast Asia.
For Indonesia, participation in this conference is highly relevant. As a nation with great cultural and religious diversity, peace education is considered key to maintaining national harmony. Through these discussions, Indonesia can share its experiences while learning new methods for instilling a sense of tolerance in the younger generation.
Beyond the focus on curriculum, the meeting will also address the importance of cross-border collaboration to face global challenges. Educational cooperation is expected to create a future generation that better understands the importance of dialogue in resolving conflicts, ensuring that peace in the ASEAN region can be maintained in the long term.
Overall, this conference in the Philippines serves as a strategic step for ASEAN countries. By strengthening peace education, it is hoped that all member states can grow together in a safe, harmonious, and mutually supportive environment for the progress of the region.
