Batam Officially Becomes a New Digital Gateway between Indonesia and Singapore
The Indonesian government has just inaugurated a Network Connectivity Center (NCC) facility in Batam. This inauguration marks a major step for Indonesia in strengthening technology and communication infrastructure in the regional area.
This NCC facility is designed to be a data hub that connects internet networks between Indonesia and Singapore. With this center, internet connections are expected to become faster, more stable, and more efficient for users in both countries.
Batam was chosen as the primary location due to its highly strategic geographical position. Its close proximity to Singapore allows for more optimal submarine fiber optic cable construction, thereby supporting digital economic growth in the region.
In addition to increasing internet speeds, this project also aims to attract more foreign investors to the technology sector in Indonesia. The government hopes this step can create new job opportunities and accelerate digital transformation across various local industries.
Looking ahead, the NCC is expected to become the backbone of the national digital ecosystem. The presence of this connectivity center proves Indonesia's commitment to improving its technological competitiveness at the international level.
