Indonesia Achieves Self-Sufficiency in Rice and Corn
The Chair of Commission IV of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia, Titiek Soeharto, shared positive news regarding the state of national food security. She stated that Indonesia has now successfully achieved self-sufficiency in two major commodities: rice and corn.
This statement was made during a working meeting discussing the achievements of the agricultural sector in Indonesia. According to Titiek, this success is an important step in maintaining food availability for all people in the country.
Food self-sufficiency means that Indonesia is able to meet domestic consumption needs through its own production without having to rely on imports. This achievement is expected to improve the welfare of farmers and strengthen national economic stability in the future.
Although the targets for rice and corn commodities have been met, the government remains committed to continuously increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector. The focus moving forward is to maintain the sustainability of harvests so that Indonesia's food security remains well-preserved.
This success serves as concrete evidence of the efforts made by the government and farmers in managing natural resources to their maximum potential. It is hoped that this achievement can be maintained and improved upon to realize stronger food sovereignty for Indonesia.
