Commemorating 22 Years Since Munir's Passing, UB Faculty of Law Hosts International Human Rights Conference
The Faculty of Law at Universitas Brawijaya (FH UB) will host an international conference titled the International Conference on Human Rights (ISCHR) 2026. This event is being held in Malang as a commemoration of the 22nd anniversary of the passing of Indonesian human rights activist Munir Said Thalib.
This conference aims to serve as a forum for discussion among academics, practitioners, and activists regarding the state of human rights in Indonesia and the world. The primary focus of this meeting is to address various human rights challenges that have emerged amidst increasingly dynamic changes in the global economic and political landscape.
Beyond honoring the legacy of Munir, this activity is expected to generate new perspectives regarding the protection of fundamental human rights. Participants will highlight how economic policies and political shifts often have a direct impact on social justice for citizens.
Through ISCHR 2026, FH UB seeks to encourage a broader dialogue on the importance of equitable law enforcement. This event also serves as a reminder for the younger generation to remain concerned about humanitarian issues that remain unfinished business for the Indonesian nation.
In conclusion, the conference is expected to provide strategic recommendations for the government and civil society. Through these in-depth discussions, it is hoped that awareness of the importance of respecting human rights will continue to grow amidst the ever-evolving challenges of the times.
