Sambalagi HPAL Plant Expected to Become a New Standard for the Mining Industry in Indonesia
The Deputy Governor of Central Sulawesi, Ma'mun Amir, expressed high appreciation for the construction of the High Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) plant in the Sambalagi area. This project is considered a strategic step in supporting the downstreaming of the nickel mining industry in Indonesia, particularly in the Central Sulawesi region.
During his visit, the Deputy Governor emphasized that the presence of this plant is crucial for increasing the added value of local mining commodities. Previously, many mining products were exported in raw form. With the HPAL processing facility, Indonesia is now capable of processing nickel into raw materials for electric vehicle batteries domestically.
In addition to providing economic impact, the local government hopes that this plant can serve as an example for other mining companies in implementing good industry standards. This includes the use of more efficient technology as well as a commitment to sustainable environmental management around the operational area.
the local government also highlighted the importance of absorbing local labor in this project. It is hoped that the existence of large industries such as the Sambalagi HPAL plant can open many job opportunities for the local community and improve the technical skills of Indonesian workers.
In closing, the Deputy Governor stated the government's commitment to continue supporting investments that provide tangible benefits to the community. It is hoped that the synergy between the government and the private sector can be maintained for more stable and inclusive national economic growth.
