The Important Role of the Younger Generation in Safeguarding the Future of Democracy
Amidst rapid social and technological changes, the younger generation now occupies a highly strategic position. They are considered a key group that plays a major role in determining the direction and future of democracy in Indonesia.
Youth participation is not limited to casting votes during general elections. They are also active in voicing opinions through social media, monitoring government policies, and engaging in various social movements aimed at creating positive change for society.
Digital technology provides the younger generation with ease of access to information and discussions regarding national issues. With strong digital literacy skills, they can help combat the spread of fake news or hoaxes that often threaten the stability of democracy in this modern era.
However, this involvement also demands great responsibility. The younger generation is expected to be able to think critically, respect differences of opinion, and continue to uphold the values of Pancasila in every action and interaction they have in the public sphere.
In conclusion, the future of democracy depends heavily on the concern and concrete actions of the younger generation. Through active and wise involvement, they can ensure that the democratic system in Indonesia continues to evolve to become better and more inclusive for all levels of society.
