Pertamina Develops Advanced Drilling Technology for Energy Independence
PT Pertamina (Persero), through its subsidiary Pertamina Hulu Energi (PHE), is currently striving to increase technological independence in the oil and gas sector. This step is being taken to ensure that Indonesia is capable of managing its own energy resources more efficiently and modernly.
VP of Drilling & Well Intervention at PHE, Fata Yunus, stated that the development of drilling technology has become the company's main focus at this time. One of the major opportunities currently being prepared is the utilization of 'unconventional well' technology to increase national oil and gas production.
This technology is considered important because easily accessible oil and gas reserves are starting to decline. By applying more advanced and innovative drilling methods, Pertamina hopes to access energy reserves that were previously difficult to exploit, so that national production targets can be achieved.
In addition to increasing production capacity, the use of this new technology also aims to reduce Indonesia's dependence on foreign expertise and equipment. This is in line with the government's vision to create energy sovereignty through domestic mastery of technology.
This strategic step is expected to have a positive impact on Indonesia's future energy security. With the support of the right technology, Pertamina is optimistic that it can maintain the stability of energy supplies for both industrial needs and the wider community.
