The Importance of Integrating Technology and Faith for Indonesian Students
The Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Mendiktisaintek) of the Republic of Indonesia recently attended a Dawn Lecture event at Al-Azhar University Indonesia. During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of combining science and technology with the values of faith. This is considered highly relevant for Indonesia's younger generation amidst the rapid development of the digital world.
In his speech, the Minister explained that technological progress alone is not enough to build a strong nation. Students, as future leaders, need to have a solid foundation of morals and faith. With such a foundation, they are expected to use knowledge for good and responsible purposes for the wider community.
The integration of science and faith is the key to creating beneficial innovations. According to the Minister, science provides the methods or tools to understand the world technically, while faith provides direction and ethics in its application. Both must go hand in hand so that technological progress does not undermine human values.
Al-Azhar University Indonesia welcomed the message as part of their educational vision. As an educational institution, the university plays a major role in producing graduates who are not only intellectually bright but also possess strong character. This event serves as a reminder for all students to continue balancing study and worship.
Through activities such as this Dawn Lecture, the government hopes that higher education institutions in Indonesia can continue to motivate students to innovate. By combining modern technology and spiritual values, Indonesia is expected to be able to compete at a global level without losing its national identity and culture.
