BRIN Develops ANG Technology to Replace LPG, Indonesia Could Save IDR 26 Trillion

The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) is currently developing a new technology called Adsorbed Natural Gas (ANG). This technology is designed as an alternative to the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) that has been used by the Indonesian public.

The development of this technology is part of the government's efforts to reduce dependence on LPG imports. Currently, Indonesia still imports a large portion of its LPG needs to meet daily household consumption.

If this ANG technology is successfully implemented on a large scale, the government estimates significant savings in subsidy budgets. The value of these subsidy savings is projected to reach IDR 26 trillion annually.

In addition to helping save the state budget, the use of ANG technology is expected to increase national energy independence. By utilizing abundant domestic natural gas resources, Indonesia will no longer need to rely on supplies from abroad.

Currently, BRIN continues to conduct various research and testing to ensure that ANG technology is safe and efficient for public use. The government hopes that this innovation can be implemented soon to support national energy security in the future.
